What M(ike) remembers
It was great, they had a little room set aside for the wedding party to hang out and brought us appetizers while we waited for the grand entrance. How thoughtful of them! And they kept bringing tray after tray of appetizers, it was great. I was starving! I didn’t want to eat too much though, because I was nervous about our first dance.

Pretty soon it was time for the grand entrance, and it was really fun. The DJ played Sexxlaws by Beck which is a really fun upbeat tune, and called people in one at a time. We finally made our grand entrance, and pretty much went right into our first dance.

What M(ike) remembers
On the day of our wedding (tee hee!) I remember waking up a little bit before the wakeup call we had scheduled. I stayed in bed figuring I would need the rest. Once the wakeup call came at 7am, I hopped out of bed and took a shower. After taking a shower, I consulted the checklist I made that many people have heard rumors about. Here is a screenshot of the full checklist. Each column is for a different vendor or person in the wedding party and it indicates which of the items are applicable to them. In the words of Moose, “NERD!”

And as one person put it, “He has it to the minute!” Here is a zoomed-in view of part of it.

In the morning, M(ike) and I had our last group dance rehearsal. For those of you who don’t know, we danced a rueda for the reception with some family members and friends from our studio. Our rehearsal was a little shaky, but we managed to get it together by the end. (We also danced the hell out of it at the reception. Go us!). After practicing, it was time for us to head to our hotel in Redondo Beach. Take a looksie at our totally bitchin’ hotel room…

The day before we headed out to Redondo Beach, M(ike) and I (with help from his brother/best man, Jeff) finished up the last of our reception decorations and got them all packed up.

It’s been a while since we posted a wedding update, eh? First, the best update of all: we are now 10 days away from the wedding! Things are definitely starting to feel a little surreal now. For example, our second update: We had a wedding shower thrown in our honor! It is so weird to think that a party was thrown for us because we’re getting married. Crazy, man!

Today, M(ike) and I made the long, but always thrilling, trip down to Redondo Beach (via our favorite bus system, of course) for a hair and makeup trial at Highlights Salon/Body Etc. Spa. Unfortunately, I wasn’t completely happy with my experience at the salon, so I probably won’t be depending on them to meet all my day-of beauty needs.

The employees
The first thing I noticed when we reached the salon was their lack of organization. Mike and I had made (and confirmed) the trial run appointment a long time ago, yet when we got to the salon there was some confusion as to who we were and why we were there. It turned out that the person who had made the appointment hadn’t updated the salon’s appointment book, so the hair and makeup artists weren’t expecting us. Talk about a lack of communication!
